Julio Capó, Jr.
Julio Capó, Jr. (Ph.D.) is a nationally recognized historian and public intellectual who has written extensively about the modern United States and Caribbean, especially histories of Florida, LGBTQ, immigration, ethnicity, and race. He is Associate Professor of History and Public Humanities at Florida International University in Miami. Prior to returning to his hometown in Florida, Capó taught and earned tenure at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. He has curated several major exhibitions and is a regular contributor to both academic and mainstream outlets, including The Washington Post, TIME, The Miami Herald, The Sun-Sentinel, and El Nuevo Día (Puerto Rico).
